In the post war era, the McDonnell Douglas F-15A was one of the truly great combat aircrafts. An all-weather air superiority fighter, this aircraft was one of the most expensive military programmes in history. With a single seat, the fighter pilot was designed with the intention of it dominating the battlefield, a design which in the future would be the comparison for all future fighter designs to be judged against.
